Who we are

Rocket City Practical Shooters are Northern Alabama's practical pistol shooting club affiliated with the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA). We usually shoot a 5 course pistol match with at least one of them a classifier for local monthly matches. We hold our matches at the Arab Practical Shooting Club which is located at mile marker 292.5 southbound lane on Highway 231, north of Arab Alabama and just south of Morgan City Alabama.

Ladies and children with safe gun handling skills are welcome to participate. Our dedicated team of practical shooters will provide coaching and mentoring for all new shooters. This is and can be a family sport.

USPSA matches are held on 2nd Saturday of the month.

These are USPSA affiliated pistol matches with 1 classifier minimum per match.

Speed Steel matches are held on 4th Saturday of the month.

Shoot 5 steel plates as fast as you can for time. Shoot 5 strings of fire per stage and discarding your longest time string for total time/score.

USPSA Match Pre-Registration:

RCPS is now on palm device electronic scoring. To provide efficient match setup, it is required to pre-register for the match. If you know you are going to attend the RCPS USPSA match, please pre-register. If you don't pre-register, you can still shoot the match, but you will be asigned a "walk-on" number for match scoring. You will be required to remember this number during the match to inform score keeper who you are. So you can see, it will be easier to pre-register and use your name.

Please download the pre-registration form, save it to your computer, fill in the information, and click on the top right "Submit" button. Once submitted, the registration will be sent to the match director for registration.

If you use MS Outlook as you email program, have it open before you click on the submit button or it will go to your outbox without being sent. In this case it will send when you eventually open your outlook, possibly days later. Not sure about other email programs.

Schedule:

Matches are held on every second Saturday of each month. We shoot every month of the year...summer through winter, rain or shine. One match in the past 2 years was cancelled due to ice conditions.
